Nowadays, digital working is a must in the orthopaedic landscape, but with the various software providers, choosing can still be difficult.
In this article, we cover various software for orthopaedics and look at which software is best for which situation.
Rodin4D's Neo is a CAD/CAM solution for designing, modelling and manufacturing orthopaedic devices. Neo is the most comprehensive CAD/CAM solution on the market. Because NEO has no limitations, it allows orthopaedic technicians to design their own corrections.
Rodin4D's Cube is another application of Rodin4D designed to manufacture orthopaedic devices. Cube works from a patient scan or is linked to Neo, allowing you to start designing your orthosis or prosthesis directly on your mould. Cube was created specifically to simplify 3D file design.
Rodin4D's Arkad is software designed for podiatry. Users have the ability to add their own components such as pad and shapes to their library. The wide range of options allows free choice in design, as well as in production techniques.
Fitflow is Rodin4D's latest software application. Fitflow is designed to simplify every step of your workflow. By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining processes, the user can focus on the essentials: creating innovative and customised orthopaedic devices.
Toolkit3D is a Software focused on Mass customisation. The Toolkit3D workflow automatically creates a customised design based on a 3D scan. A semi-automatic workflow can also be chosen where own operations can be done.
You can use Mecuris, producing up to five models per month for free. Mecuris is a platform that allows you to design and produce custom 3D printed models. It offers a user-friendly interface and powerful tools that allow you to customise designs to meet your customers' specific needs.

The table above compares the different software on the 5 main components that design software must meet, below we take a closer look at the similar software solutions.
First of all, it is important to know what you want to achieve with the software.
Want a CAD/CAM solution with the goal of designing models a few times a month? Then Mecuris is probably the best option (and free 5 times a month). If you want more options and will use the software a lot, we recommend Neo.
If you plan to design tools primarily for 3D printing, Cube will be a nice complement to Neo, but this is not a must. All the software mentioned are suitable for 3D printing.
If you are looking for software that will speed up the entire production process, we recommend Fitflow or Toolkit3D. Fitflow automates repetitive tasks and is very easy to use, but Toolkit3D allows you to automate the entire work process. Toolkit3D also includes an order management system. So the trade-off between these 2 tools depends on your preference.
Looking for software for podiatry? Then we recommend Arkad.
