3D printed corset

An orthopaedic corset must fit perfectly. There is no room for interpretation or distortion. The correction zones must be where you put them and the pressure distribution must be right. A 3D printed corset gives you that assurance. Our 3D printers follow your design down to the last millimetre. This allows you to quickly create a lightweight torso orthosis that really makes a difference for patients.

What is a 3D printed corset?

A 3D printed corset is an orthopaedic device for the torso that is completely digitally designed and produced. Based on a 3D scan, you build a CAD model. Including the desired corrections. Then the 3D printer prints the model layer by layer.

Hull and back orthoses from the 3D printer are used effectively for back pain and postural abnormalities, among other things. A common application, for example, is the scoliosis brace: a brace that actively adjusts the spine as it grows with pressure distribution and corrections that sit exactly where you planned them. This is how 3D printed orthoses make a difference.

3D printed corset vs traditional torso orthosis & scoliosis brace

There are many steps between the design of the orthopaedic corset and the final product. You have to take a plaster cast, build a model, heat the thermoplastic so you can deform it and then hope the material does what you want it to. With a ready-to-wear corset, you make corrections manually. Based on feeling and experience.

This differs from a 3D printed corset. There, you work from a corrected digital model that is produced. Your digital design drives production. That way, you get a complete torso orthosis or scoliosis brace, without having to form thermoplastics or still manually model the corset. That works faster and with less room for deviations.

Targeted correction and pressure distribution

Correction is at the heart of an orthopaedic corset and that is exactly where you make a difference with a 3D printed corset. This is because in the digital design, you determine exactly where pressure is built up and where relief is needed. You adjust stiffness and flexibility for each zone. What you put in the model is exactly in the final torso or back orthosis.

No surprises after production. No extra correction rounds in the workshop. You know before delivery how your corset will function. That makes all the difference.
