Outsourcing the production of orthotic insoles

Do you manage your own printers, materials and production expertise, or would you prefer to outsource this? As a podiatrist, you assess the scan and design the orthotic insole, Shapemakers We carry out a technical check of the file and 3D-print the orthotic insole according to your design. This works for practices just starting out with digital production, as well as for those wishing to adopt a systematic approach. Discuss the options with us and we’ll see what suits your practice best.

As a podiatrist, which production tasks can you outsource?

We 3D-print orthotic insoles based on your digital design, in various styles, materials, hardness levels and finishes. Thanks to multi-zone printing, you can combine multiple hardness zones within a single insole, precisely where the patient needs them.

Orders can be placed for individual pairs or in larger quantities. We supply the insoles ready for production; any final steps, such as fitting a protective film, can be carried out by you in your practice or we can take care of them for you. Do you have a special design, a non-standard size or a new application? Please let us know.

Outsourcing the 3D printing of orthotic insoles

We print your digital insole design layer by layer to create a physical orthotic insole, using TPU-based materials suitable for multi-zone printing. We carry out a technical check on every file, verifying dimensions and wall thickness, amongst other things, before we begin.

We work with the standard requirements for design files from podiatry CAD software; if you’re unsure whether your file meets these requirements, we’ll be happy to advise you. After printing, we check the finish, carefully package the insoles and deliver them to your practice. We process repeat orders and customised designs based on your previously supplied file, and we’re also able to adapt to sudden spikes in volume.

Why outsource the production of orthotic insoles?

No need to invest in your own professional printing system, and no time wasted on maintenance, calibration or troubleshooting. No stock management for printing materials, no separate production space and no staff member required to monitor the printing process on a daily basis.

Your production capacity automatically scales with the number of orders, and you can easily reproduce the same digital design. This leaves you with more time for research, treatment and patient/client care. For start-up practices, practices with multiple locations or those with fluctuating production volumes, outsourcing is often a logical first step towards digital working, without having to manage the entire production process yourself straight away.

From foot scan to 3D-printed orthotic insole

  1. You take a scan or digital measurement of the foot.

  5. The orthotic insole is 3D-printed.
