Choosing the Right Software
Choosing the Right Software
Nowadays, digital work is indispensable in the orthopedic landscape. However, with the various software providers available, making a choice can sometimes be challenging.
In this article, we discuss various software for orthopedics and examine which software is best for which situation.
What Exactly Are the Software Solutions?
Rodin4D’s Neo is a CAD/CAM solution for designing, modeling, and manufacturing orthopedic aids. Neo is the most comprehensive CAD/CAM solution on the market. Since Neo has no limitations, the orthopedic technician can independently make the corrections they wish to implement.
Rodin4D’s Cube is another application from Rodin4D designed for the production of orthopedic aids. Cube operates from a patient scan or is linked with Neo, allowing you to immediately design your orthosis or prosthesis on your mold. Cube is specifically designed to simplify the design of 3D files.
Rodin4D’s Arkad is software designed for podiatry. Users have the option to add components such as pelottes and shapes to their library themselves. Due to the extensive options, there is a free choice in both design and production techniques.
Fitflow is Rodin4D’s latest software application. Fitflow is designed to simplify every step of your workflow. By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining processes, the user can focus on the essence: creating innovative and customized orthopedic devices.
Toolkit3D is software aimed at Mass customization. The Toolkit3D workflow automatically creates a custom design based on a 3D scan. There is also the option for a semi-automatic workflow where individual edits can be made.
You can use Mecuris, where you can produce up to 5 models per month for free. Mecuris is a platform that enables you to design and produce custom-made 3D printed models. It offers a user-friendly interface and powerful tools that allow you to adjust the designs to the specific needs of your customers.
Which Software is Right for Me?
In the table above, the different software solutions are compared based on the 5 most important components that design software must meet. Below, we take another look at the comparable software solutions.
First and foremost, it’s important to know what you want to achieve with the software.
Are you looking for a CAD/CAM solution with the goal of designing models a few times a month? Then Mecuris is probably the best option (and 5 times a month for free). If you want more options and will use the software extensively, we recommend Neo.
If you plan to primarily design aids for 3D printing, then Cube will be a great addition to Neo, but it’s not a must. All the software mentioned is suitable for 3D printing.
If you are looking for software that will accelerate the entire production process, we recommend Fitflow or Toolkit3D. Fitflow automates repetitive tasks and is very user-friendly, but with Toolkit3D, you can automate the entire work process. Toolkit3D also includes an order management system. The choice between these 2 tools depends on your preference.
Are you looking for software for podiatry? Then we recommend Arkad.
