Milling molds for orthopedics is a crucial technique in the design and production of orthopedic aids. The process typically starts with scanning the body part for which the aid is intended, such as the foot or ankle. Using CAD software, a digital mold design is created and then converted into CNC programming.

A CNC milling machine is used to carve the mold’s design into a block of PIR, PUR, or MDF. When milling molds, you can choose between PIR and PUR. Both foam types are suitable for milling molds; the difference lies in the foam’s cell structure.

Milling molds offer various advantages over traditional mold-making methods. It’s faster, more accurate, and reduces the likelihood of human errors. Additionally, digital designs can be easily adjusted, enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of the production process.

For each order, we provide advice on the best foam type if needed. Consultation with us is always possible. We handle each order with a unique custom milling program.

In the catalog (which can be downloaded at the top of this page), you’ll find an overview of our products and the recommended densities. Other/special products can be milled through discussion. We can also deviate from the recommended densities if agreed upon.
