What are podiatric orthotics? 

Podiatric orthotics support, correct and relieve the foot from the shoe. They are used for a variety of foot complaints. From misalignment and overuse injuries to plantar fasciitis, diabetic foot problems or a heel spur. 

Performance hinges on fit. Customisation is the standard, because no foot is the same. Moreover, the relationship between design and result is direct: a correction and pressure distribution that does not come out exactly does not work. That requires a digital production process that follows your design exactly and does not interpret it. That calls for a 3D printed orthotic.

Creating 3D-printed orthotics starts with you, the podiatrist. You provide a digital file based on a 3D foot scanner or a CAD model with processed corrections. That file is the only starting point for production. Nothing is modified, interpreted or added.

Any correction you have incorporated into the model is also in the final orthotic. The geometry of the file drives the 3D printer. That means no deviations, no simplifications of complex surfaces and no variation due to material behaviour of a plaster cast. The digital geometry is precisely converted into a physical product. 

And another added benefit of 3D-printed orthotics: reproducibility. The same design files for the same patient produce exactly the same podiatric orthotics. Even if there are months in between.
